Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Programming & Job Planning Bensenville, IL We are seeking a skilled and driven Manufacturing Engineer to take ownership of quoting, job planning, and CNC programming in a fast-paced, high-mix, low-volume machining environment. This position plays a critical role in supporting custom part production, with a strong focus on stainless steel components used in the food and packaging industries. Key Responsibilities: Develop complete part routings from BOM interpretation through finishing operations
Quote new jobs based on customer RFQs, including estimating cycle times and selecting tooling
Program complex CNC lathe operations using Mastercam and Mazak conversational (Mazatrol) programming
Plan and structure jobs involving turning, milling, live tooling, and secondary processes
Support machinists on the floor with troubleshooting and program modifications (–% of time on shop floor)
Collaborate with the second Manufacturing Engineer to manage workflow and meet production timelines
Required Qualifications: 5–7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering and CNC programming
Expert-level proficiency with Mastercam for complex geometry
Strong hands-on experience with Mazak lathes, including Mazatrol and G-code programming
In-depth knowledge of live tooling, Y-axis milling, and multi-axis turning
Experience transitioning from 2D drawings to 3D models to CAM programs
Proficiency with Inventor, SolidWorks, or other 3D CAD software
Demonstrated ability to machine stainless steel parts
Strong understanding of tool selection, insert types, GD&T, and workholding/fixtures
Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems for routing and job planning
Background in job shop environments where parts change frequently and speed is key
