Caterpillar is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Brooklyn Park, MN. In this role, you will work both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in product manufacturing. You will analyze and recommend current and future systems, procedures, training and equipment needs based on requirements, as well as analysis and make recommendations for engineering product designs.

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Conduct detailed process planning oversight for NPI activities
  • Execute Management of Change process workflow to support engineering changes, process improvement changes, and engineering deviations
  • Plan and execute facility process area change projects.
  • Ensure adherence to process requirements, including:
    • MRD (Manufacturing Requirement Document) compliance, CAV (Customer Acceptance Validation) Audits
    • CQMS (Caterpillar Quality Management System) certification
    • PFMEA (Process Failure Mode & Effect Analysis)/SFMEA (Safety Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) activities
    • DFx (Design For Excellence) activities.
    • Applicable engineering specifications and requirements
  • Execute end-to-end capital planning, procurement, and place in service
  • Engineering Deviation review and approval
  • Participate in cross-functional teams, including HEME (HEX Manufacturing Engineering) Global Synergy teams, CPPD (Collaborative Product and Process Development) and Local Change Board

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
  • Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or an engineering technology or minimum of 3 years of manufacturing engineering shop floor experience - Work would include process improvements, cycle time, rebalancing of work, tooling corrections, etc.
  • Prior experience working in CREO or similar 3D modeling software.
  • Prior experience working in NPI or NSI programs.
  • Prior experience developing Bill of Material (BOM) splits and creating standard work.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with multiple departments simultaneously.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience creating and maintaining routings in ERP systems.
  • Experience in conducting time studies.
  • Experience identifying and developing solutions to Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost issues in a shop floor environment.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Summary Pay Range: $95,640.00 - $143,520.00
