Marketing Data Engineer

Description: The Marketing Data Engineer is a hands-on technical expert responsible for architecting, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines across our marketing technology stack. You will enable end to end tracking, multitouch attribution, and actionable reporting through platforms such as Azure , Power?BI , and Microsoft Fabric , with deep expertise in GA4 tagging —especially within Shopify environments. Working within the Data Analytics team and partnering closely with marketing teams, you will harmonize tracking with broader business objectives and deliver best in class data capabilities.
Requirements:
1. Data Integration & Flow
Design and implement data pipelines that ingest and unify data from CRM, ESPs, CDPs, ad platforms, CMS, and web analytics tools.
Leverage APIs, webhooks, and middleware automate data collection and transformation.
2. Shopify & GA4 Tagging
Own GA4 setup on Shopify storefronts, mapping Enhanced?eCommerce events (product views, add-to-cart, checkout, purchases, refunds) via data layers and Google Tag Manager (GTM) .
Regularly audit tagging accuracy and completeness; maintain technical documentation and proactive alerting for anomalies.
3. Cross Channel Tracking & Attribution
Implement cross-channel user tracking and multitouch attribution; integrate GA4 with ad platforms (Google Ads, Meta) and enforce UTM standards.
Configure custom dimensions/metrics for full funnel visibility.
4. Reporting & Visualization
Build and maintain Power?BI dashboards that surface marketing performance, attribution insights, and funnel metrics.
Automate recurring reporting for paid media, CRM, email, and web traffic; enable self-service data access through well documented reports.
5. Governance, Quality & Compliance
Enforce data quality standards, maintain data layer specifications and tracking schemas, and ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations.
Serve as liaison between Data?Analytics and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
6. Collaboration & Support
Work with analytics and engineering teams to develop data models, troubleshoot collection issues, and create APIs for new data sources as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience
5–8?years in marketing analytics, data engineering, or martech roles.
Technical Expertise
• Proven GA4 & Enhanced?eCommerce implementation on Shopify (including Liquid, data layers, GTM).
• Strong SQL and BI skills (Power?BI preferred).
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Microsoft?Fabric.
• Familiarity with data warehouse platforms (BigQuery, Snowflake).
• Scripting in SQL, Python, JavaScript, or Liquid for tag customization and pipelines.
Data Engineering
ETL design, data modeling, complex queries, views, and multi-table troubleshooting.
Marketing Analytics
Google Analytics, cross channel attribution, and ad platform integration (Google, Bing, Meta).
Soft Skills
Analytical mindset, attention to detail, strong communication, proactive problem solving, ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience in a Shopify?Plus or eCommerce first environment.
Exposure to ESPs such as Klaviyo or Listrak .
Familiarity with consent management and privacy compliant tracking solutions.
Working knowledge of JavaScript or Liquid for advanced tag customization.
