SRNL's Glass Cement, and Ceramics Science group is seeking a qualified candidate to support the laboratory's portfolio in the areas of cementitious materials science, materials development for the immobilization of nuclear wastes, and the chemical phenomenology of these materials.
Responsibilities
Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to perform research in cementitious chemistry and materials science. Participate in developing, planning, and executing funded research projects with the supervision of senior researchers. Possess demonstrated technical skills to solve complex scientific problems and performing state of the art research. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: BS + 4-6 yrs; MS + 3-5 yrs; PhD + 2-4 yrs in advanced degree in materials science/engineering, chemistry, civil or environmental engineering. Demonstrated expertise in applied science. Advanced communication skills involving complicated topics. Works safely with particular attention to quality. Complies with all policies and standards. For ability to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance, US Citizenship is legally required. About Us

About the Team
SRNL's Environmental & Legacy Management (ELM) Directorate closely collaborates with the Department of Energy (DOE) and site contractors to develop, mature, and apply science and technology needed to resolve environmental challenges and advance legacy management missions. As the lead laboratory for Environmental Management (DOE-EM) and Legacy Management (DOE-LM), SRNL applies our talent and expertise to develop and deploy innovative approaches and technologies to reduce risk, cost, and schedule of environmental cleanup and nuclear material processing. Additionally, ELM is using our competencies to develop new materials and processes for a range of clean energy applications.
