We are seeking a HVAC and plumbing engineer interested in working on a diverse collection of building configurations. Under general supervision, the candidate should be capable of performing all aspects of conventional design engineering, analysis, and studies on new and existing structures.
Worker must be located within 50 miles of a non-federal office. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions for our global projects. This position is responsible for the engineering and design of the HVAC and plumbing systems in various types of facilities.
The HVAC Team is engaged in the following:
Design and Construction Activities Project Delivery Methods - Traditional Design-Bid-Build and Alternative Conceptual-Bid-Build. Facility Types - Water Treatment, Power Generation buildings, and Substations. Systems - HVAC and Plumbing. Type of Areas - Waste water treatment buildings, Administrative, Warehouse, Maintenance, Workshop, Laboratory, Chemical Storage & Handling, Electrical Distribution Center, Low & Medium Voltage Switchgear, and Pump Areas.
Studies Energy Audit/Efficiency - Engineering studies, system performance reviews, and energy compliance calculations. Code Review/Application - Facility review for code compliance. Sustainable Design/LEED - Application of sustainable strategies.
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years related work experience. Candidates should be self-motivated, possess strong problem-solving skills, have a quality-focused mindset, and demonstrate strong listening and written communication skills. Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and the following applicable design guides and standards related to HVAC and plumbing system design is required: International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes ASHRAE Handbooks / Standards ASPE design handbooks SMACNA Standards NFPA standards Additional skills and experience include: Computer-generated HVAC heat loads, energy modeling, and HVAC equipment sizing Technical submittal reviewing process Bid reviewing process Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Experience with Bluebeam Revu Revit 3D Modeling Experience with large-scale water-cooled chillers is preferred
