Description Position Overview The Maritime Systems Division of Leidos is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative engineering and production teams. In this role, you will contribute to the development and production of advanced solutions that address critical national missions for diverse customers, including the Department of Defense and various governmental and commercial entities. Key Responsibilities Lead and support the design, development, installation, and maintenance of a diverse range of electro-mechanical systems for sub-surface, surface, and land-based applications. Create and modify detailed engineering drawings using the SolidWorks software suite to ensure accurate implementation of designs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate inputs from various disciplines while ensuring timely task completion with significant operational impact. Independently resolve technical issues, contribute to design reviews, and recommend effective solutions. Prepare and review engineering change documents, test plans, and test reports to maintain quality standards. Work closely with production staff to oversee the timely and accurate manufacturing of products as designed. Participate in product verification testing to ensure design requirements are met and perform thorough evaluations. Present mechanical designs and defend engineering decisions during internal and external engineering review sessions. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program, with 4-8 years of relevant experience; a master's degree with 2-6 years of experience is also acceptable. Experience or knowledge of unmanned maritime vehicles, underwater connectors, and associated systems. Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and the ability to apply them effectively. Proficient in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, both written and oral. U.S. Citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and engage in diverse projects. Collaborative team player capable of effectively interpreting and executing verbal and written instructions. Detail-oriented with adequate physical mobility to navigate office and lab environments. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assemblies. 8-12 years of relevant experience or a master's degree with 6-10 years of experience. Experience in HVAC systems design and thermal management processes. Background in designing systems for long-term operation in corrosive environments. Certification as a SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) or higher. Familiarity with finite element analysis for simulations of structures, vibrations, and thermal properties. Experience in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment. Knowledge of PTC Windchill PLM software. Work Location: Long Beach, MS Pay Range: $85,150.00 - $153,925.00 The pay range for this position is a guideline and may vary based on various factors. Factors considered in extending an offer include job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, and legal requirements.
