As a Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on interior fit-out projects, you'll play a key role in designing HVAC and plumbing systems for some of the region's most recognizable commercial spaces. You'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers and project managers to deliver high-performance, code-compliant, and client-focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities Design HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial interior fit-out projects, including office spaces, retail, and tenant renovations. Coordinate with electrical and fire protection disciplines to ensure integrated MEP solutions. Prepare construction documents, specifications, and equipment schedules. Conduct site surveys and field verifications to support design accuracy. Review shop drawings, submittals, and respond to RFIs during construction. Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery. Ensure compliance with local codes, ASHRAE standards, and LEED guidelines where applicable. Support project management tasks including timelines, deliverables, and quality control. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. 3-6 years of experience in MEP design, with a focus on commercial fit-out projects. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with energy modeling tools is a plus. Strong understanding of NYC/NJ building codes and permitting processes. Excellent communication and coordination skills. Experience working in a consulting engineering environment is preferred. EIT or PE license is a plus but not required.
