We're looking for someone to join our team as a Network Engineer III who:
The Network Engineer III holds a pivotal role in overseeing the organization's network infrastructure. They are responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing network infrastructures, ensuring the network's reliability, scalability, and security. The Network Engineer III leads efforts in network troubleshooting, performance analysis, and the implementation of advanced security measures to mitigate potential risks. They collaborate with other IT teams to plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. This role involves continuous monitoring of network performance, managing network-related issues, and providing expert guidance on network-related projects. With their advanced knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and security technologies, the Network Engineer III provides mentoring to junior engineers and offers strategic insight to improve network functionality and efficiency.
Essential Functions:
Strategy & Planning
- Lead the development and implementation of long-term network strategies to align with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify and assess the network's current and future needs, providing recommendations for scaling and optimization.
- Perform network audits to evaluate performance, capacity, and security.
- Conduct research on emerging networking technologies and evaluate their potential integration into the current network environment.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Oversee the procurement, installation, and configuration of enterprise-level network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other critical devices.
- Lead the planning and execution of large-scale network upgrades and migrations.
- Ensure network deployments meet organizational standards for performance, scalability, and security.
- Develop and manage the testing and validation of new network solutions, ensuring compatibility and compliance with internal standards.
Operational Management
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance of network systems, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Lead the implementation and enforcement of network security measures, including IDS/IPS, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, security policies, and change logs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, providing expert-level solutions for performance and security problems.
- Oversee disaster recovery planning for network infrastructure and ensure robust business continuity strategies.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to junior staff and other team members.
You'll be successful with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5-8 years experience in network administration and engineering.
- Strong experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex enterprise network infrastructures.
- Expertise in network security implementation, including firewall configuration, intrusion detection, and vulnerability management.
- Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCNA, CISSP, or equivalent preferred.
- Expertise in advanced networking protocols and security technologies.
- Strong knowledge of disaster recovery planning and implementation for network infrastructure.
- Thorough understanding of change control processes and methodologies in network management.
- Proven ability to lead and manage network projects and upgrades.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide junior staff.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
