Network Performance Engineer Contract Length: 12 months Location: East Syracuse, NY Work Setup: 5x per week onsite
Join our team as a Network Performance Engineer and play a critical role in ensuring the optimal operation of our Mobile Switching Center (MSC) network infrastructure. This hands-on role demands technical expertise, proactive problem-solving, and a collaborative mindset. Candidates should be open to occasional night shifts and capable of meeting physical demands in a dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities Install, operate, and maintain switching, data communications, and peripheral equipment at the MSC. Coordinate installation, testing, and troubleshooting across various network platforms and transmission services (e.g., dark/lit fiber, Gigabit Ethernet, OCn, T3, T1, DS0). Utilize traffic and capacity monitoring tools to maintain system performance. Monitor building automated systems (Client), ensuring reliable operation of AC/DC power and HVAC systems. Maintain a secure and compliant operating environment for network integrity and vendor safety. Track network changes via daily logs and generate compliance documentation reports. Partner with stakeholders to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues. Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, or eliminate operational processes. Support cell site builds and manage switch inventory. Qualifications
Must-Have: Associate's degree or equivalent work experience. 3+ years of relevant network operations experience. Ability to meet physical job demands (e.g., climbing, lifting up to 40 lbs, working in confined spaces). Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Flexible availability for shift work, including nights. Experience with wireless networks and IP routing protocols. Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or NRS. Proficiency in scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Ansible). Skilled in using electronic testing equipment. Knowledge of Linux, data/digital communications, telecommunications, DC power systems. Project management experience. Familiarity with Ericsson, Samsung, or Nokia equipment.
