Onsite Mechanical Engineer - Liquid Cooling SME - Critical Facilities - Impact, TX This opportunity is working onsite at a HPC / Hyperscale Data Center Facility. This firm provides data center solutions custom-fit to the requirements of their client's mission-critical operational facilities. Our client is seeking an Onsite Mechanical Engineer to act as a Subject Matter Expert  / SME in liquid cooling at the rack level for Hyperscale client onsite at a the Customer's Data Center. They will provide onsite design, commissioning consulting and management expertise in Data Center / Mission Critical Facilities Space with the mindset to provide reliability, energy efficiency, and sustainable design when providing these consulting services. The ideal candidate will have past experience with Mechanical , HVAC and Controls Systems specifically for large data centers / Hyperscale. They will have experience and in-depth knowledge of HVAC / Mechanical / Controls System design, installation, commissioning and operations. This role will support ongoing facility operations, upgrades, and infrastructure deployments with a strong focus on HVAC, liquid cooling at Rack and Server, piping and other mechanical systems used in hyperscale / HPC data center environments.
Responsibilities: Oversee projects, assist with design- plans, provide and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary mechanical engineering design role for large sized data center facility design projects Serve as the mechanical subject matter expert onsite in meetings and throughout engineering, commissioning, and go live Assist with Conceptual Designs gathered from meetings with the client and translate to field-level execution Support data center operations with design upgrades, retrofits, and equipment assessments for mechanical and cooling systems Review mechanical design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other documentation pertinent to engineering design and commissioning Work with Management to create / respond to RFPs Represent the company in: commissioning, design, construction and coordination meetings Participate in onsite commissioning efforts including HVAC systems, chilled water systems, CRAHs, cooling towers, and liquid cooling infrastructure Understand functional tests for various systems, such as: HVAC / Mechanical Systems, Controls, etc. Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors and owners agents and internal stakeholders as needed; Execute project assignments; Interface with project contractors, vendors, and testing technicians; Interact with all facets of the company: engineering, design, when requested Write comprehensive technical reports when needed which including system analysis, deficiency lists, and O&M documentation in addition to: recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, list of deficiencies, equipment operation and maintenance manuals Troubleshoot HVAC and cooling systems in the field; identify and resolve equipment performance issues Assist with quality control processes and mechanical system validation procedures Qualifications: 5–10 years of experience in Mechanical systems, HVAC, or liquid cooling infrastructure for critical facilities or data centers Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering degree a plus Licensed PE / EIT a Plus Experience with AutoCAD for minor tweaks for any design plans a plus Previous experience using: Revit MEP projects, BIM a plus Experience with Mechanical Systems ( HVAC , Liquid Cooling, Manifolds, Cooling Towers, CFD ( Fluid Dynamics), Boilers , Chillers , Pumps , CRAC / CRAH Units , Air Handling Units , etc. ) Familiarity with mechanical equipment testing, balancing, equipment sizing, calculations, and commissioning in high-uptime data center facilities Previous Data Center / Mission Critical experience a must Ability to successfully work independently Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (this role requires heavy amount of writing, documentation, and client interaction) Self Starter, self motivated, and should prioritize well Previous experience in the Military / Military Veterans a huge plus! Experience with Electrical / Mechanical: Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.
