Subject Matter Expert – Controls Development Triage

Join a team shaping the future of engine control systems. Our top client in the automotive industry is looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Controls Development Triage to provide hands-on leadership within our Engine Control Product Release Center (PRC). In this pivotal role, you'll guide control software development from concept to calibration—ensuring quality, compliance, and performance at every step.
What You’ll Do
Translate high-level vehicle requirements into advanced control algorithms
Implement controls in MATLAB/Simulink, C, or similar tools
Lead triage and root cause analysis for control system issues
Guide pre-verification efforts using MIL, SIL, and HIL testing tools
Partner across teams—calibration, diagnostics, software integration—to ensure timely, quality delivery
Mentor engineers and deliver training in engine control development best practices
Review, validate, and approve control artifacts and software capabilities
Drive improvement projects that enhance system robustness and software quality
What You Bring
15+ years in engine control systems, embedded software, or automotive systems development
Deep expertise in controls design, system requirements, and vehicle system integration
Proficiency with model-based development tools like MATLAB/Simulink, DOORS, AUTOSAR architecture
Experience with tools such as ETAS INCA, Vector, and data analysis platforms
Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills
Preferred Bonus Skills
Functional Safety (ISO 26262), OBD systems, or engine calibration knowledge
Experience driving software optimization (VRAM usage, CPU performance, throughput)
Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma or similar quality frameworks
Education:
Bachelor's (required) or Master’s (preferred) in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Automotive Engineering, or a related field
