Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer with Commissioning / Startup Testing expertise to lead and execute complex technical programs. You will be responsible for defining scope, resolving advanced technical challenges, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Define scope of technical programs and deliver creative, cost-effective solutions to unique or complex problems
Lead and mentor less experienced professionals on related tasks
Apply advanced technical practices and manage projects with complex requirements
Direct programs that require new approaches and applications of engineering principles
Evaluate results, prepare reports, and recommend improvements
Stay current on advancements in technology and apply them to projects
Prepare schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements; monitor progress and expenditures
Communicate results verbally and in writing to customers, colleagues, and management
Represent technical expertise through reports, patents, publications, and industry involvement
Required Education & Experience
Ph.D. in applicable science or engineering discipline with 5+ years’ experience, OR
MS with 8+ years’ experience, OR
BS with 10+ years’ experience
Technical knowledge of Commissioning / Startup Testing, including:Startup Testing execution
Design reviews
Procedure development
Test execution
Experience with Manual 5E, Startup Test Program, and related standards (or equivalent program)
Experience developing, reviewing, approving, and presenting Technical Work Documents/Commissioning Test Procedures
Demonstrated accountability for schedules, deadlines, budgets, and safety performance
Minimum 1 year of recent DOE or commercial nuclear industry testing experience
Preferred Qualifications
Active DOE “L” or “Q” clearance within the past 2 years
Startup Testing Execution qualification(s) Level II or III (per ASME NQA-1 test program)
Local candidates strongly preferred
