The Metallurgy Design Engineer position spans development and evaluation of advanced nickel superalloy turbine components, 3D metal printing, forming process development, forging process development and advance aerospace coating development. In this role you will be responsible for technical/production support, process/product development and optimization of Aerospace and Industrial gas turbine systems within the metallurgical specialty for both new part and repair businesses. You will lead and participate in engineering teams producing new designs, repairs, and processes; utilizing lean tools and methodologies to positively impact the business metrics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proven experience in engineering metallurgical assessments and analysis of new and repaired turbine, compressor, and combustor components.
- Ability to lead collaborative efforts in a multi-disciplinary team environment to develop and deliver projects while interfacing effectively with stakeholders and other functions within a matrix organizational structure.
- Engage with multiple site engineers to cooperate and collaborate on projects and development of robust solutions impacting site operational and financial performance, utilizing CI tools; positively impacting the end customer
- Lead/facilitate metallurgical projects; including planning, organizing, data collection, and presentations.
- Owns all metallurgical aspects of assigned components and or processes from initial concept through manufacturing stages.
- Ability to lead process/production root cause investigations, implement actions/solutions, monitor sustainability of actions, and report results.
- Independently manages role responsibilities, prioritizes projects, requests resources, and collaborates with peers to achieve yearly goals.
- Prepare accurate written technical reports, specifications, procedures, and manuals.
- Prepare and deliver presentations of work to all levels of external and internal customers.
- Trains and mentors other technical staff in area(s) of specialty
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering field.
- 7+years application experience in aerospace or industrial gas turbine industry with progressively increasing responsibility and results.
- Experience in aerospace materials with preferred understanding of casting (SX, DS, EQ) coating and heat treatment processes.
- Knowledge of gas turbine design and manufacturing processes: Braze, weld, casting, coating, etc.
- Effective communication: Ability to read, analyze, document and present complex technical data
- Problem-solving: Strong skills with ability to facilitate team discussions effectively
- Lab equipment and testing: Experience with SEM, EDS, Keyence, and other testing processes
- Experience with mechanical properties: testing, manufacturing influences
