Description:
The Process Automation Engineer III will provide plant support of process automation systems to ensure Operations are successful through guidance, troubleshooting, and standard work.
This individual will work with Operations and other technology teams to execute projects while applying global standards. They will proactively seek opportunities for process automation to mitigate risk, improve efficiency, and drive optimization projects. Additionally, they will support and advance the standardization and documentation of process automation systems.
The Process Automation Engineer will also contribute to plant culture by supporting safety initiatives and Performance Excellence.
Job Requirements: Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirements Maintain a thorough knowledge of production processes, equipment and operations in the interest of developing, improving and maintaining process and safety interlocks Design and implement Process Automation controls to achieve desired control processes, and troubleshoot systems to identify and resolve hardware or software deficiencies Develop and maintain documentation of process automation hardware and software related to process automation control systems Ability to lead groups to drive automation projects and assigned global process automation initiatives Identify and drive continuous improvement through use of Performance Excellence work processes Pursue/maintain industry specific training and certifications relative to this position and for career advancement; for recommend technical training and technology application in area of subject matter expertise Ability to effectively coach and develop other colleagues Responsible for maintaining a 5 year capital plan prioritized to maintain appropriate balance of capital discipline vs technology lifecycle Strong verbal and written communication skills, engineer is responsible for site level automation SOPs and contributing to global automation SOPs Independently prioritize work for location and operations leadership; communicate progress through specialized KPIs and scheduled; Lead review and response for site level operations leadership Ability to skillfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and succeed in an environment of competing priorities Application of of cybersecurity fundamentals in plants within responsibility Responsibility for automation systems at multiple plants across the BU, including working with multiple DCS types Manage third-party suppliers / contractors and align relationships to me ADM business needs in Capability of working in extreme temperatures. Ability to climb stairs, lift and move a minimum of 40 pounds, and sit and stand for long periods of time. Should be able to work in confined spaces and at heights. Availability for on-call rotation for off-hours, holiday and weekend coverage. Up to 25% company travel required Preferred Experience/Education: Minimum of Associates degree in a technical area. A Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, Computer, or Automation Engineering is preferred. 10+ years of experience with process control in an industrial environment Experience with Distributed control systems - Rockwell Automation PlantPAx Versions 3.0 through 5.x preferred. 5+ years of experience with developing, implementing, and maintaining PlantPAx control systems. Including HMI development, Alarm Rationalization, and Interlock development. Experience with industrial IO platforms, Allen Bradley IO platforms preferred. Experience writing and editing Control Narratives Competent in integration of data historians such as OSIsoft PI Experience interfacing multiple networ protocols for Industrial Networks (ie EthernetIP, TCP/IP, ModbusTCP, ControlNet, and DeviceNet) Knowledge of Industrial Process Control including instrumentation, AC/DC Electrical systems, Piping & Instrument Diagrams Ability to troubleshoot, solve, and repair issues with process control systems and work safely with and around AC & DC voltages up to 120V Excited about this role but don't think you meet every requirement listed? Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
