Job DescriptionThe Lead Process Utilities Engineer is responsible for overseeing the discipline at a project level and managing the project discipline budget on simple to complex projects of all sizes. The Lead Engineer has a thorough understanding of the development and field implementation of documents across all project phases. The Lead Engineer possesses the ability to coordinate with internal and external parties, manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities and direct the work of others.
The Senior Engineer has a thorough understanding of the development and field implementation of documents through all project phases, sizes and levels of complexity. The Senior Engineer possesses the ability to coordinate with internal and external parties, manage multiple complex tasks, establish priorities and direct the work of others.
Responsibilities
- Plans and directs work and manages a project budget from a discipline design perspective on large complex projects.
- Works with Project Manager on proposal development, man-hour planning and project scheduling for the discipline scope of work on intermediate level projects.
- Leads interactions with clients, internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Oversees the discipline at a project level and manages the project discipline budget on simple to complex projects of all sizes.
- Conducts quality checking of documents for complex projects (e.g., technical verification of design calculations and documentation) and drives overall project quality.
- Coordinates with internal and external parties, manages multiple complex tasks, establishes priorities and directs the work of others.
- Develops and delivers intermediate level internal discipline design and engineering training presentations.
- Directs and manages the workflows and execution of design and engineering support staff (Entry-Level to Senior) to meet client expectations and project goals.
- Oversees the production of deliverables or leads activities which require more experience, deeper understanding or involve more complexity such as:
- Layout Development for Utility Rooms
- Space Planning for Pipe Routing
- Capacity Planning/Expansion Strategy
- Complex Vendor Package Management
- Participation in or facilitation of Risk Assessments, HAZOPs / HCCPs / Etc.
- 3D Model Review and Coordination
- Site Walkdowns and Field Reports
- Commissioning and Startup
- ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in in chemical / mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 10 years of experience for Lead position
- Minimum of 15 years of experience for Senior position
- A mixture of design firm, operating company or construction related experience (within the market sector)
- Extensive experience with applicable Industry or Regulatory Guidance and local building codes
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering License
- Effective leader with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Diversity of experience across a variety of facilities, equipment and systems used in the life sciences industry
- Extensive internal and external technical network including clients, vendors, peers and construction trade partners
- Experience successfully leading large or complex projects from a technical perspective
- Proficient with advanced coordination with internal cross discipline partners, construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers required
