We are excited to invite a motivated and solutions-focused individual to join our Product Development team as a: Product Development Engineer Role This role offers a unique opportunity to work as part of a cross-functional team, developing new products from concept to production for the automotive and manufacturing sectors. As a Product Development Engineer, you will combine your technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and strong communication skills to deliver innovative solutions and ensure that our products meet all functional, cost, and quality requirements. Key Product Development Responsibilities Responsibilities and authorities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Deep knowledge of injection molding processes and tool design.
Solid knowledge of plastics painting, plating, and assembly processes.
Well-rounded experience and knowledge in manufacturing, quality, and engineering.
Good understanding of fixture functionality and design for quality and in-process checks.
Proven experience in integrating multiple exterior vehicle components, including but not limited to wheel flares, rockers, spoilers, and door moldings.
Strong business acumen with the ability to balance technical and commercial priorities.
Product engineering and design/development experience, preferably at the Tier 1 supplier level.
Strong knowledge of tooling and integrated manufacturing and design, related to both OEMs and manufacturing facilities.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements for Product Development Engineering This role requires the following minimum education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Product Design, or a closely related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in product development.
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting (SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, or similar software).
Experience with root cause analysis.
Familiarity with project management principles and tools.
Strong analytical, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative approach.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
Available to support projects with occasional travel or outside regular hours as required.
Preferred Skills for Success in New Product Design & Engineering
Experience with GD&T, DFMEA, and project lifecycle management systems.
Understanding of automotive product standards.
Knowledge of polymer materials, surface treatments, and assembly methods is an asset.
