Project Coordinator (Data Automation Engineer)

In addition to performing project management activities for assigned projects, including filling in for the project manager when unavailable, this role adds the responsibility to implement data automation tools to reduce the workload of the entire project management department. In their automation role, this position will implement Jira in support of a traditional project tracking and coordination platform, integrated with the enterprise P6 schedule and supporting the use of Deltek Cobra for data visualization.
These activities will enable automated reporting and simplified analysis of enterprise resource utilization tracking and financial status. The ideal candidate will combine strong project management experience and organizational skills with technical expertise in workflow automation with experience in using a wide variety of data automation tools to reduce workload and enhance efficiency of the entire program management department.
Tasks:
- Assist program managers with the planning, scheduling, and tracking of project activities, dependencies, and deliverables.
- Fill in for program managers when they are unavailable and represent them at coordination meetings.
- Configure and manage Jira projects, issue types, workflows, and dashboards tailored to milestone-driven programs.
- Develop and implement automation tools and scripts to streamline reporting and data synchronization between Jira, Oracle P6 and Oracle ERP.
- Automatically generate reports that consolidate schedule, cost, and resource data for use in program reviews and executive briefings.
- Ensure data integrity across Jira, Oracle P6 and Oracle ERP systems by establishing and maintaining quality checks, validation and reconciliation processes.
- Support implementation of Deltek Cobra by the centralized PMO
- Create and maintain detailed documentation on project tracking tools, data workflows, and reporting methodologies.
- Support cross-functional teams by providing timely project status updates, coordination artifacts, and data-driven insights.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in project management, engineering, or business processes.
- CAPM or PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
- 5+ years enacting data automation and project management in complex construction, technical or government environments.
- Expertise with Jira for traditional project planning, task tracking, and schedule management.
- Strong experience using Primavera P6 for project management: developing schedules, resource loading, monitoring and controlling work and data extraction.
- Proficiency in scripting and data automation tools (e.g., Jira, MS Office, Python, SQL) to support report generation and systems integration.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with technical and program stakeholders. Ability to train teams on how to use automated tools.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in data handling and documentation practices.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or business processes/program management.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience with large projects using Oracle P6
- Familiarity with Deltek Cobra, Power BI, Tableau, and other data visualization platforms.
