We are actively seeking a talented and experienced Project Engineer in the Electrical & Controls field to strengthen our Automation & Digitalization division at our Eugene, OR location. In this role, you will drive high-impact projects to enhance plant productivity, reliability, and sustainability tailored to the needs of our North American Mill customers. Your focus will be on designing and executing advanced solutions to meet our clients' operational requirements, improving their systems for long-term success. This position is perfect for someone passionate about leveraging innovative electrical engineering and controls technology to make a tangible impact on industrial processes.
Salary: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Engage directly with customers to understand and tackle operational challenges, promoting innovative solutions in system upgrades and process optimizations. Conduct thorough audits at industrial facilities, creating preliminary engineering designs and estimates for significant electrical and control system upgrades. Design robust industrial LV and MV electrical power systems inclusive of equipment specifications, motor control and grounding systems, along with meticulous sizing and layout of cables and raceways. Develop detailed electrical room designs and prepare comprehensive tender and construction packages featuring electrical and instrumentation drawings and installation specifications. Construct complete electrical control and instrumentation system designs, including P&ID drawings, control system and network architectures, and instrumentation systems. Formulate and deploy control strategies to optimize plant performance, and handle programming as well as configuration of DCS and PLC/HMI applications. Execute system checks, facilitate testing, and manage commissioning processes to ensure optimal operation of installations. Minimum Position Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical or Automation Engineering. Proven experience in designing and implementing industrial automation projects with a focus on electrical and control engineering. Demonstrated ability to audit industrial sites, with extensive exposure to commissioning, construction, and start-up phases. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English necessary for customer collaboration and team interactions. Legal entitlement to work in the US, accompanied by a readiness to travel to regional client sites as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineering (P.E.) certification. Practical experience with DCS programming, FactoryTalk, and Rockwell Suite. Experience in harnessing industrial solutions for the pulp & paper, mining, and chemical industries, providing a competitive edge in similar environments. Skills: Expert-level proficiency in industrial control systems and low/medium voltage power system design. Advanced problem-solving skills to effectively address and resolve system and operational challenges. Highly resourceful with a proven track record of driving projects to completion autonomously while thriving in a collaborative team setting.
