SUMMARY: We are seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to lead the electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar, and energy storage projects. Based in either Chicago, IL (targeting candidates with 10+ years of experience) or Austin, TX (open to mid-level engineers with 5+ years), this full-time, permanent role supports all phases of project development—from design and pre-construction through turnover to operations. Responsibilities include power system modeling, BOP equipment specification, grid code compliance, and coordinating with both internal stakeholders and external consultants. JOB FUNCTION: Design of balance of plant packages during development Engineering project support during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations Grid code compliance and interconnection requirements. Specification and evaluation of major balance of plant electrical equipment Power system modeling and studies Coordinating project engineering topics during construction Management of 3rd party engineering consultants Coordinating with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts during the project lifecycle Ensure that the highest level of health, safety, and environmental protection is incorporated into designs and standards Support the development of electrical engineering standards Support the development of engineering processes and procedures
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college engineering program Advanced degrees can reduce technical experience requirements A minimum of 5 years of professional experience (post undergraduate) in electrical engineering Specific areas of experience and competency include transmission design, substation design, collection and distribution design, major equipment specification, power system studies, and system protection and control. Experience in renewable generation (wind turbine, solar PV, and BESS storage) project design is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams Strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlines Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables Ability to multitask while working independently and as part of a team Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable Must be detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts By completing an application, you give us permission to send you text messages regarding this position and future opportunities.
