The Role at a Glance
As our Project Engineer, you will provide critical support to the project team in scheduling, documentation, quality assurance, safety, and coordination. Working primarily on-site, you'll collaborate with the Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, and Superintendent to ensure seamless project execution from start-up to closeout. In this key role, you'll need exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Your ability to manage project documentation, communicate effectively, and support safety and quality initiatives will be instrumental in maintaining project efficiency and fostering strong relationships with Owners, Architects, and Subcontractors.
How You'll Drive Results
- Support Project Start-Up: Attend project handoff and preconstruction meetings to gain a comprehensive understanding of project goals and requirements. Assist in scheduling and documentation preparation to ensure a smooth start.
- Manage Documentation: Maintain accurate records of submittals, RFIs, architect instructions, and weekly updates to the record set construction documents. Ensure all correspondence with subcontractors and vendors is documented and reviewed with the Project Manager.
- Facilitate Subcontractor Coordination: Attend subcontractor coordination and preconstruction meetings, documenting key discussions and decisions to ensure alignment across the team.
- Support Safety and Quality Standards: Work with the Superintendent to enforce safety protocols and quality standards on-site, addressing and documenting any issues proactively.
- Provide On-Site Assistance: Assist the Superintendent and project team at the job site, supporting daily activities to maintain progress in accordance with project schedules.
- Execute Punch Lists: Collaborate with the project team to complete punch list activities, ensuring that all items are resolved to meet project standards.
- Assist in Closeout Activities: Work with the Assistant Project Manager to finalize closeout documentation and ensure a seamless transition to project completion.
- Build Relationships: Establish and maintain professional relationships with Owners, Architects, and Subcontractors to foster collaboration and trust.
- Communicate Effectively: Document and distribute important communications, including field conversations, telephone discussions, and updates from project meetings.
Essential Functions
You must be able to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, and climb stairs and ladders occasionally, with the ability to walk on uneven ground while navigating active construction sites. Depth perception is required to avoid excavations and other hazards, and the ability to hear warning sounds such as horns and sirens from moving equipment is essential for safety. The role involves standing for extended periods, up to seven hours of an eight-hour shift, and the occasional lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds.
