Propulsion Subsystems Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Propulsion Subsystems Engineer to define and manage system requirements, conduct propulsion analysis, develop performance budgets, and support mission analysis. The role involves creating and maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for propulsion components, reviewing subcontractor designs, and developing satellite test procedures. You will lead Verification & Validation planning, coordinate with suppliers, contribute to program reviews, and assist with propulsion testing and data analysis. The engineer will also participate in testing at various facilities and author satellite procedures and operations manuals.
Define and manage system requirements from mission to subsystem level.
Conduct trade studies and propulsion analysis including delta-V, impulse, Isp, and thrust.
Develop performance budgets, design documentation, and CONOPS.
Support mission analysis focusing on pointing, mass, power, and reliability.
Create and maintain ICDs for propulsion components.
Review subcontractor designs for compliance.
Develop and oversee satellite test procedures.
Lead Verification & Validation and operations planning.
Coordinate with suppliers and integrated teams.
Contribute to program reviews such as EQSR, SRR, PDR, and CDR.
Support satellite integration, testing, and reviews including TRR, TRB, DRB, and NCRs.
Assist with propulsion testing and data analysis.
Participate in testing at various facilities and during In-Orbit Testing (IOT).
Author satellite procedures and operations manuals.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering in a relevant field with 5+ years of experience.
Previous design and test experience with LEO/MEO satellites and subsystems.
Understanding of the space environment and orbit mechanics.
Strong understanding of aerospace systems and engineering fundamentals.
Relevant experience with testing of satellite subsystems.
Demonstrated capability to test propulsion systems and resolve problems.
Hands-on individual who can lead all systems integration processes.
Experience with qualification and acceptance testing of new designs.
High degree of attention to detail.
Demonstrated capability to efficiently work with little to no supervision.
Ability to distill complex problems to fundamentals and solve them creatively.
Experience creating or using models and/or simulation software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Experience leading and coaching a technical team.
Support the spacecraft operations team in critical phases.
Experience with Requirements, Trade-off Studies, CONOPS, ICD, Test, Verification, and Validation.
This role offers the flexibility to work remotely, with bi-monthly travel trips. Each trip will consist of 3 days and 2 nights of travel, with expenses covered. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on a significant contract and join a team that has successfully completed hundreds of missions.
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $85.00/hr.
