Protection & Control Relay Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Protection & Control Engineer to join our team. This role involves developing and managing relay settings, performing power system studies, and ensuring compliance with NERC standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in system protection, power system analysis, and engineering software tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relay settings for SEL, GE, ABB, and other major relay manufacturers.
- Conduct short circuit analysis and protection coordination studies using CAPE and ASPEN.
- Analyze relay mis-operations using tools such as Wavewin and SEL SynchroWave.
- Perform arc flash hazard analysis using ETAP.
- Prepare and review NERC compliance verification reports for standards including PRC-005, PRC-019, PRC-025, PRC-026, PRC-027, and others.
- Lead and manage relay setting projects, including Wide Area Coordination and generator protection schemes.
- Utilize engineering software for tasks such as ground grid design, transformer sizing, load flow, and short circuit studies.
- Apply industry standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI in all engineering work.
- Collaborate with project engineers, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
- Provide engineering support for relaying, load flow, and fault analysis.
- Occasionally visit job sites to gain hands-on experience and support field activities.
- Strong understanding of system protection principles and power system analysis.
- Proficiency with engineering software tools (CAPE, ASPEN, ETAP, AutoCAD preferred).
- Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
