Summary
AOI is a manufacturing company that integrates optical, electronic, mechanical, and photonic technologies to build high-speed optical transceivers and CATV systems. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Equipment Engineer to support our Quality Department in conducting reliability and qualification tests for semiconductor devices, as well as performing quality control activities for production lines.
In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment. You will also work to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of equipment and tools. Collaboration with production engineers, technicians, and vendors will be essential to ensure equipment uptime, yield performance, and process stability in a cleanroom environment.
Job Duties
Install, qualify, calibrate, and maintain reliability test equipment, measurement instruments, and quality control tools to ensure optimal operation.
Troubleshoot complex equipment issues using 5M1E analysis, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
Monitor equipment performance metrics and drive continuous improvements in uptime, throughput, and cost of ownership.
Collaborate with production engineering, quality control, and manufacturing teams to optimize tool performance and ensure seamless process integration.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), training records for technicians and operators, troubleshooting guides, and equipment maintenance logs.
Interface with equipment vendors to coordinate upgrades, retrofits, and technical support.
Ensure adherence to cleanroom protocols, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Support the introduction of new technologies and capacity expansion initiatives.
Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and reducing defects, utilizing methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean.
Provide training and technical support to production personnel on the operation and maintenance of qualification and reliability testing equipment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet quality, functionality, and specification standards.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field preferred (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electronic Engineering, Optical Engineering, Semiconductor Technology, Physics, etc.).
Minimum of 1 year of experience in the semiconductor industry; experience with photonic integrated circuit (PIC) equipment maintenance is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with data analysis tools and software.
Solid understanding of quality standards, regulatory requirements, and both in-line and end-of-line quality control processes.
Effective verbal and written communication skills for presenting findings and collaborating across teams.
Familiarity with optoelectronic products, manufacturing processes, and equipment.
Strong presentation and reporting abilities, with excellent organizational, multitasking, and attention-to-detail skills.
Self-motivated, reliable, and a collaborative team player capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Working knowledge of automation systems, robotics, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies.
Experience with enterprise systems such as PLM, SAP, and MES.
Location
This position will be on-site based in Sugar Land, Texas.
