Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer will review and track requirements for design, development, and production of radomes and antennas in an AS9100 environment. They will read technical drawings and specifications in order to develop inspection plans and identify nonconforming products as an interface between design engineers and operations. They will coordinate and manage a variety of activities associated with the site quality management system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review statements of work, specifications, standards, drawings, and processes to interpret technical and contractual requirements.
  • Review and approve engineering data (drawings, models, specifications, reports) for completeness, accuracy, compliance to requirements, and inspect-ability.
  • Develop inspection plans for new products.
  • Own and facilitate the non-conformance reporting and root cause/corrective action processes internally and with suppliers and customers.
  • Maintain the calibration system for inspection equipment.
  • Interface with customer quality personnel.
  • Assign quality codes for purchased components and services to ensure requirements are met and flowed down.
  • Participate in IPT (Integrated Product Team) meetings, execute assigned actions, and be a strong advocate for both the customer and quality group.
  • Support new business development by reviewing customer requirements, providing estimates for time to complete tasks, and generating quality assurance program plans.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:

  • Experience working with an AS9100 Quality Management System or under an ISO quality system.
  • Experience working in quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using common measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field from four-year college or university.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Quality Engineer or in a related position.
  • Experience using a variety of metrology equipment such as an optical comparator, a coordinate measurement machine, and a laser scanner.
  • Understanding of common industry standards:
    • ASME Y14.5M (Dimensioning and Tolerance) including GD&T.
    • MIL-STD-100 (Engineering Drawings Practices)
    • ANSI/ASQA Z1.4 (Sampling Procedures)
    • ANSI Z540.3 and/or ISO 17025 (Calibration Standards)
  • Configuration management system and processes.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Position involves ability to frequently or constantly exert up to 20 pounds of force and occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force to move or lift objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
