Infrastructure Engineering Inc's (I E I) New York office is looking for an experienced Resident Engineer (RE) to join our Team! We are a multi-disciplinary consulting firm that focuses on the delivery of design engineering, program management, and construction engineering and inspection services. IEI cultivates various types of engineering projects from conception and planning through implementation. As the Resident Engineer on this project, youserve as the on-site representative of the program management team, responsible for overseeing daily construction activities, ensuring project compliance with design specifications, schedules, budgets, and safety standards. The Resident Engineer plays a vital role in coordinating between contractors, consultants, clients, and regulatory agencies, ensuring successful delivery of engineering and construction projects under the broader Program Management scope. Essential Duties/Functions and Responsibilities: Act as the client’s on-site representative during construction
Monitor daily construction activities for quality assurance and compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards
Coordinate with design engineers, construction contractors, inspectors, and program management staff
Conduct regular site inspections and lead field meetings with stakeholders
Review and approve contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress payments
Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, logs, as-builts, and photographs
Identify and mitigate construction-related risks or delays; escalate critical issues when necessary
Enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and project-specific requirements
Participate in project meetings and prepare status reports for senior management and client stakeholders
Ensure environmental, permitting, and regulatory compliance on-site
To Be Successful Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Minimum 10 years of experience in construction supervision, site engineering, or resident engineering is required
Strong knowledge of construction codes, safety regulations, and industry standards
Prior experience with project coordination and demonstration of strong leadership skills
Experience with large-scale or multi-site program management environments
Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project)
Familiarity with project delivery methods (e.g., Design-Bid-Build, CM/GC, Design-Build)
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Working Conditions: IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable driver's record.
Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites, have good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete.
Sometimes needs to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.
Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.
Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.
Usually works in outside weather conditions.
