Summary
The successful Automation Engineer will develop and execute automation solutions for the modernization and new installation of Level 1 control systems for Electric Arc Furnaces, Vacuum Tank Degassers, Continuous Casters, Hot and Cold Rolling Mills, Metallurgy and Process Line equipment.

What you'll do
Develop and implement PLC based automation control systems that include motion control, advanced sensors, VFD drives, and actuators
Perform Level 1 (PLC) control system programming based on the function descriptions and mechanical and hydraulic layouts
Complete sophisticated assignments requiring development of new and/or improved engineering techniques and procedures
Interface and communicate with local project team (project managers, engineers, support personnel) and internal experts as well customers and suppliers to provide engineering solutions to technical issues and project-related matters
Conduct integrated testing and simulation of entire system before delivery to the end customer
Perform on site commissioning and training as required
What you'll need
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an engineering role in metals or a similar industry
Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
Experience in automation and/or automation practices
Experience with Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell RSloigx5000
Demonstrates ability to apply engineering principles to the solution of design problems
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Be willing to travel to support the project work
Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent computer skills
