Indiana University-Radio/Television Services, WTIU Public Television, and WFIU Public Radio serve south-central Indiana, producing a wide range of radio, television programs for local, state, and national distribution, as well as many non-broadcast productions for the university and community.

Department Specific Responsibilities Participates in a variety of standard broadcast and closed-circuit operations engineering duties including set up, operation and maintenance of electronic, mechanical and optical equipment in the origination, transmission, reception, and recording of audio and video signals. Primary duties focus on video engineering of live multi-camera broadcasts, recorded productions, remote field production and post-productions, instructional productions, and studio productions Installs and performs routine and corrective maintenance on broadcast video and audio systems. Assists in the production and operations planning, establish technical procedures and methods, evaluate, and recommend equipment for purchase. Frequently changing priorities while managing multiple productions and maintaining 24/7 broadcast operation. Provides guidance during classroom studio, remote, and other duties as assigned. Services and maintains equipment for television production and post-production; provide technical support to maintain proper operations to produce final output of A/V productions. Operates multi-camera setup, and other video and audio equipment for television and radio production and post-production; video technician is in-charge-of oversees all the cameras iris control and overall look of camera video. Monitors high-end multi-camera production and optimize video levels for live production, high visibility sporting events and close-circuit campus events. Serves as support engineer in Electronic Field Productions (EFP) assignments and assist producer, director and video engineer as required. Serves as Video Technician engineer in Electronic Field Productions (EFP) assignments and assist producer, director and audio engineer as required. Collaborates with producer and director in establishing camera video needs optimal video levels for specific television productions. Sets up cameras "shade" for optimizing the color and unifying all cameras as determined by production needs; ensure proper application, characteristics and issues that may arise with cameras, cable length and intercom. Performs routine and corrective maintenance on video camera equipment used in radio, news and television studios, and remote productions. Participates in the planning, evaluation, and selection of video equipment for Radio-TV Services, Telecommunications and other departments as needed. Designs, installs, documents, and performs initial set up and check out of camera and intercom equipment and modify equipment to improve performance as needed. Performs routine and corrective maintenance on audio video equipment used in television production studios and control rooms and remote productions Television Master Control (TMC)-Operate, monitor, and adjust transmitters and transmitter remote control systems to comply with FCC Rules and Regulations. Makes entries on broadcast station log to fulfill FCC requirements. General Responsibilities Monitors productions and signals, determines proper operation of broadcast quality equipment, provides troubleshooting guidance, and corrects basic and complex issues involving sound quality, production playback, and file transfer. Manages, designs, plans, installs, operates, and maintains video production facilities, tape and server recording and editing equipment, and lighting and stage equipment, including digital cameras, switchers, graphics, routing, recording, playback, encoding, embedding, compression, and multiplexing with multiple layers of audio. Assesses equipment needs for productions, procures necessary materials, and configures installation to ensure consistent operations during production. Designs and implements preventive maintenance schedules and operating procedures to maintain equipment. Regularly tests, adjusts, and evaluates installed systems and approves post-production media for technical quality for release to other broadcasters. May train Broadcast Technicians and/or Audio/Video Technicians on procedures and production equipment operations. Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
