Job Description GM has the largest connected vehicle fleet worldwide, with over 9 million connected vehicles in the US alone, projected to triple in the next 10 years. The OnStar system accesses over 900 data points per vehicle, revolutionizing auto insurance. We are committed to safety and financial security, aiming for zero crashes, emissions, and congestion. Responsibilities Code, test, deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud-based data engineering processes following best practices and security standards. Collaborate with data scientists, architects, ETL developers, and business partners to manage data from diverse sources. Evaluate and experiment with data engineering technologies, assessing their impact and viability. Promote emerging technologies and enable their adoption within the team. Develop standards and processes for data engineering projects and cloud initiatives. Educate and mentor ETL developers on cloud-based data engineering initiatives. Maintain data quality frameworks to ensure data accuracy and reliability. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automation. Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability. Implement data observability and monitoring solutions.
Qualifications Ideal candidates will have experience with: Processing large datasets like telematics data using tools such as Databricks, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka. Ingesting various data formats and working with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP). Object Storage technologies, containerization, and cloud deployment models. Source control, build systems, CI/CD, and data quality frameworks. NoSQL databases, ETL processes, and privacy compliance. Experience with Adobe solutions, troubleshooting, and working in Agile environments. Strong communication skills and knowledge of data platforms and architectures.
Experience and Education 6-8 years of hands-on data engineering experience. Bachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
