BigFoot Staffing is excited to offer you this direct hire opportunity to join our clients industry-leading Electrical Design Engineer team in Portland, OR.

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and collaborative Electrical Engineer to join our clients Portland-based engineering team. This role will focus on new product development for electric motor-driven industrial air compressors, vacuum pumps, blowers, and air dryer assemblies.

The ideal candidate will bring strong electrical design expertise, mentor newer team members, and champion best practices in electrical engineering.

Essential Job Duties Lead the design of integrated electrical power and controls systems, including PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and proper overload selection. Create detailed electrical schematics and P&IDs using MicroStation, and generate thorough Bills of Materials (BOMs). Develop designs that comply with UL508A, NEMA, and CSA standards. Provide guidance and mentorship to newer engineers, sharing knowledge without direct supervisory responsibility. Collaborate with sales, mechanical design, and production teams to deliver quality, on-time solutions. Support production as needed with more complex electrical questions and troubleshooting.

Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. ~10 years of relevant industrial electrical design and integration experience. Proficiency in industrial 3-phase power and controls system design. Knowledge of electrical panel design, fabrication, and wiring installation procedures.

Preferred Skills CSA compliance experience (highly sought after). Electrical design experience in CREO (major plus). MicroStation experience for both electrical schematics and P&IDs. Strong troubleshooting ability for electrical/mechanical integration.

Physical Demands Occasionally lift 50100 lbs., frequently lift 2550 lbs., and constantly lift 1020 lbs. Extended periods of computer-based design work.
