Senior Electrical Engineer – Energy & Power Solutions Location Options: Ft. Worth, TX | Greenville, SC | Denver, CO | Philadelphia, PA | Cary, NC | Chicago, IL
Type: Temp-to-Perm | Hybrid (minimum 2 days/week onsite when not traveling)
Travel: Up to 50% (varies by project)
Salary Range: $130,000 – $200,000 DOE
Overview:
An established engineering organization is expanding its Energy & Power Solutions team to support the growing demand for sustainable, reliable, and resilient energy infrastructure. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with deep expertise in utility and power projects to take a lead role in delivering engineering design, advisory services, and business development initiatives for complex energy projects. This role offers the opportunity to mentor junior staff, manage engineering teams, and collaborate directly with clients to develop and execute innovative energy solutions.
Responsibilities:
Lead electrical engineering teams in delivering design solutions and advisory services for utility, power generation, renewable energy, and energy storage projects.
Review client needs, develop conceptual plans, and carry projects through detailed design to implementation.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
Engage in business development, including client engagement, proposal development, and strategic pursuits.
Manage project execution planning, scope development, and man-hour estimates.
Ensure project deliverables meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
Contribute to strategy formation, innovation, and expansion of energy transition and decarbonization portfolios.
Collaborate across disciplines to integrate emerging technologies and sustainability solutions.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or related discipline.
10+ years of electrical engineering design and/or consulting experience, with a strong background in utility/power projects.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in any U.S. state and ability to obtain licensure in other states as needed.
Demonstrated success in client engagement, relationship building, and winning work.
Experience in business growth strategy and exploration of new project opportunities.
Strong project management skills, including proposal development and execution planning.
Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
Ability to work hybrid in one of the listed office locations and travel as needed.
Preferred/Highly Valued Experience:
Power distribution systems and microgrids.
Power generation projects exceeding 10MW capacity.
High-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) substation projects.
Renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal).
Energy storage systems.
Power system modeling using SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar software.
Protection and control, SCADA, or power system automation.
Campus utility master planning and decarbonization strategies.
Cogeneration and combined heat and power systems.
Thermal utility plants and distribution systems.
