Minnetronix Medical is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to support manufacturing of PCBAs and electromechanical medical devices in a production environment from externally or internally developed designs. This position will be a part of the Manufacturing Engineering team but work closely with the PCBA core team and the electrical engineering development team. This position will primarily work to insource externally or internally developed designs and will also work with customers and suppliers to analyze and troubleshoot PCBA design and manufacturing deficiencies while maintaining quality and regulatory compliance in an ISO 13485 environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide technical reviews and perform updates to PCBAs and fabrication packages to ensure internal manufacturability, alignment with supply chain, and quality of design. • Execution, review and approval of PCB and PCBA fabrication and assembly files in an Engineering Change Control System. • Responsible for supporting initial builds of PCBAs and electromechanical medical devices, including design reviews, troubleshooting technical issues and root cause investigation. • Provide direction to Electrical and Manufacturing Engineers aiding with PCB & PCBA transitions to manufacturing. • Provide direction to PCB Designers for design updates to improve manufacturability. • Provide direction to manufacturing and engineering technicians on best practices and troubleshooting support. • Establish best practices for transition of complex PCBA to internal manufacturing to align with supply chain needs, develop means to reduce costs, and increase speed to production. • Support product development with new programs from early concept through commercial manufacturing, helping to align technology and complexity of the design with Minnetronix capabilities. • Support of design changes for obsolete or otherwise high-risk components. • Troubleshoot electrical failures in PCBAs and medical devices in the new product introduction space and recommend design changes to mitigate future failure modes. • Mentor manufacturing and development engineering staff (engineers and technicians) to grow technical knowledge of electrical engineering and PCBA manufacturing fundamentals. • Work alongside test engineering electrical engineers to develop best practices in test and automation as applicable to PCBAs. • Consistently identify creative opportunities to provide value for Minnetronix, beyond defined project scope and constraints, and add value to individual customers' programs and products.
Qualifications: • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or equivalent required, preferably in Electrical Engineering. • 10+ years of applicable experience • Operations experience with PCBA and PCB manufacturing • Ability to generate and review fabrication and assembly files for printed circuit bare boards and board assemblies • Detailed understanding and application of PCB & PCBA fabrication and assembly processes • Experience with PCBA manufacturing equipment (wave solder, selective solder, ICT, 2D & 3D AOI, X-ray, PCBA wash, pick & place, reflow oven) • Demonstrated capability in obsolescence review and ability to identify alternate equivalent components • Experience implementing design changes in a production environment through a controlled engineering change system. • Experience with ODB++ and Gerber file formats • Experience with Altium (preferred) or another PCB CAD tool, as well as CAM • Knowledge of industry standards including IPC-A-610, IPC-7711, IPC-7721, IPC-J-ST
The salary range for this position is: $110,000-$140,000. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws. Beyond base salary, Minnetronix offers a competitive Total Rewards package. We offer health, dental, and vision benefits, 401K plans, and time off programs.
