We're partnering with a leading Aerospace & Defense organization to find an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in power electronics and motor control. In this hands-on role, you'll lead the design, analysis and validation of electronic control assemblies for BLDC and induction motors used in advanced cargo-handling and actuation systems. You'll work cross-functionally-from systems and mechanical engineering to manufacturing and certification-to deliver robust, compliant, and manufacturable solutions.
Core Responsibilities
Define electronic system architecture and detailed circuit designs to meet customer and regulatory requirements Produce and maintain specifications, schematics, analyses, and test reports for design reviews and compliance Develop and execute qualification and environmental test plans Integrate hardware and software, perform functional verification and troubleshoot prototypes and production units Design power stages, gate-driver circuits, protection features, and motor-control algorithms (sensorless and Hall-effect) Collaborate on thermal management and packaging for harsh operating conditions Use industry-standard EDA and simulation tools for schematic capture and analysis Work with software teams to specify control interfaces and communication protocols Support quality and workmanship standards in accordance with aerospace certification processes Participate in configuration control, risk assessments, and formal design reviews Required Qualifications Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (Power Electronics focus preferred); advanced degree or relevant experience a plus 10+ years of electronics design and validation experience in regulated environments Proven expertise in BLDC and/or induction motor-drive design for aerospace/defense Hands-on familiarity with product compliance testing and technical documentation Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and experience leading root-cause investigations Proficiency in EDA and simulation tools (e.g., Altium Designer, PSPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) Experience with embedded firmware (C/C++) and DSP/FPGA integration is desirable Knowledge of EMI/EMC mitigation and environmental testing standards Additional Requirements U.S. Person status (per ITAR) Ability to obtain security clearance if needed Occasional travel for program reviews, testing, and supplier coordination Excellent accountability, schedule ownership, and attention to documentation detail

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
