Job Description

Senior EO/IR Engineer/Scientist

Salary Range: $160,000 - $225,000

Location: Huntsville, AL

Job Summary

We are hiring a highly skilled Senior EO/IR Engineer or Scientist to serve as a technical subject matter expert supporting a Signatures Integrated Product Team (IPT). This is a leadership role for an experienced professional who will drive the development of a cutting-edge toolbox of software models simulating signature phenomena as observed by Missile Defense System (MDS) sensors.

About the Role

As the Senior Engineer/Scientist, you will guide a cross-functional team of engineers and scientists to model EO/IR phenomena, including rocket motor combustion, ascent heating, exo-atmospheric heat transfer, re-entry flowfields, and wake/ablation effects.

Your focus will be on developing, integrating, and refining high-fidelity models to support both non-real-time simulations and real-time operational use. You will define model interactions, develop interface protocols, and optimize simulation strategies based on mission requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead technical planning and execution of EO/IR signature modeling for MDS applications.

Develop and integrate models of thermal, optical, and material signature behavior.

Evaluate simulation tools and propose optimal modeling strategies for launch and re-entry events.

Present technical findings, trade studies, and recommendations to internal leadership and DoD stakeholders.

Produce detailed reports, analysis summaries, and briefing materials.

Support interface control documentation, testing, and verification of models.

Why Apply

Work on advanced missile defense systems at the cutting edge of EO/IR modeling.

Collaborate with top-tier scientists and engineers in a mission-critical environment.

Competitive compensation, benefits, and long-term project stability.

Opportunity to lead innovation in real-time and off-line simulation development.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 8 years supporting NASA and/or DoD rocket/missile systems.

Expertise in EO/IR signature modeling and heat transfer material properties.

Experience with MDS weapons/seeker systems and simulation frameworks preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of real-time vs. non-real-time model integration.

Proven success in leading teams, presenting to senior leadership, and producing technical deliverables.

Special Skills Desired

Familiarity with MDS system components, simulation standards, and MDA interface control documents.

Programming experience in C++, Java, Python, MATLAB, or Fortran.

Competence working with Linux server systems and Windows environments.

Security Requirements

Active security clearance required.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.
