R&P is looking for a Senior Marine Engineer with expertise in shipboard propulsion and electrical distribution systems to support our customer’s Systems Engineering team. We are a small-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients.
The following information aims to provide potential candidates with a better understanding of the requirements for this role.
Plan, schedule, conduct and/or coordinate detailed phases of engineering or scientific work and perform work that involves conventional engineering or scientific practices.
Apply knowledge of and experience with engineering principles and techniques to develop specifications and procedures, develop and analyze designs, and evaluate technical reports.
Typical work includes engineering studies and analyses; technology planning; systems architecture development; computer programming; hardware/software applications; operational and performance requirements development; risk analysis and assessment; concept and technology development; system design; system development, integration and certification; engineering drawing development and review; production quality engineering; production engineering and test management; test and evaluation; system operations; integrated logistics support; modeling and simulation; configuration management; and systems acquisition and life-cycle management in compliance with industry and Government practices.
Develop and/or review technical documentation including systems engineering plans, feasibility studies, configuration management plans, test plans and test reports, integrated logistics support plans, and engineering change documentation.
Conduct research concerned with design, manufacture and test of components, equipment and systems, including application of equipment to new uses.
Supervise and/or train lower-level engineers as required.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel up to 10% to support customer requirements.
Must be proficient in full suite of Microsoft Office products and tools.
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering discipline plus at least 15 years of relevant work experience.
At sea experience with knowledge of shipboard Propulsion and Electrical Distribution systems preferred
