We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to provide advanced operations support, configuration management, and troubleshooting for enterprise network systems. This role will lead the installation, maintenance, and optimization of network devices and services while ensuring security, reliability, and scalability. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco ACI or Nexus Data Center technologies, a strong understanding of security frameworks, and the ability to support critical systems in complex environments. 18 month contract with potential to extend/hire
Onsite Location in San Antonio, Texas 78215 Key Responsibilities: Monitor and maintain network performance, availability, and reliability.
Configure, install, and optimize network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, and QoS.
Perform advanced network maintenance and system upgrades, including applying service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
Conduct system resource monitoring, trending, and capacity planning.
Develop, document, and implement network security policies and procedures.
Perform information security risk assessments and serve as a subject matter expert for network security issues.
Provide Level 3 support and troubleshooting for complex technical issues.
Manage changes in line with configuration and change management policies to ensure minimal disruption.
Collaborate with security teams to select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures.
Act as primary liaison with vendors and internal IT personnel for escalations and problem resolution.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Computer Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience in network systems management.
Associate-level experience in network engineering.
Proficiency with networking protocols such as IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, and QoS.
Solid understanding of OSI and TCP/IP models.
Hands-on experience with network monitoring, diagnostics, and analytics tools.
Experience working in cloud environments.
Proven expertise with Cisco ACI or Cisco Nexus Data Center technologies.
Knowledge of vulnerability management, patch management, and incident response.
Experience supporting critical systems in operational environments.
Preferred Qualifications: Professional-level networking certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, F5-CTS, VMware VCP, or VMware VCAP.
Experience in utility construction and maintenance environments.
