Position Summary GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer passionate about building high-performance, low-maintenance, zero-downtime platforms and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization focused on engineering excellence, fostering a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.
Position Description The Senior Engineer will be a key member of the engineering team, working across the organization to support efforts ensuring the highest level of system and infrastructure availability, stability, scalability, and performance. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Provide daily support and perform maintenance for security infrastructure components (e.g., Web Security Gateways, Network Access Control systems, IDS/IPS, WAF, firewalls).
Design and maintain DNS, DHCP, NTP, and IP Address Management frameworks for operational efficiency.
Document network-related processes, runbooks, and design references.
Conduct risk and impact assessments; troubleshoot and manage changes effectively.
Support and maintain large-scale, critical network environments and services.
Perform root cause analysis for network issues.
Develop and improve processes, workflows, scripts, and automation.
Provide 24x7 on-call support and off-hours support for implementations.
Utilize enterprise network management platforms for large-scale deployments.
Qualifications
Hands-on experience with DNS, DHCP, IPAM, NTP in large enterprise environments using DDI platforms like Infoblox, BlueCat, MS DNS.
Experience supporting firewalls such as Palo Alto Networks.
Knowledge of security tools like Zscaler, CISCO WSA, ISE, WAF.
Understanding of security and audit compliance (e.g., SOX, PCI).
Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Ability to create network topology maps and document standards.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to operate under high pressure in dynamic environments.
Ownership, responsibility, and a drive for continuous improvement.
Knowledge of network architectures, protocols, and security principles.
Experience with network infrastructure hardware and performance management.
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Active Cisco CCNP certification or willingness to pursue within 12 months.
Experience
4+ years in large-scale network environment management.
3+ years in architecture and design.
3+ years with cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure).
2+ years working with open-source frameworks.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Additional Information Salary range: $100,000 - $215,000 annually. Final salary depends on experience, education, location, and market factors.
