As a Senior Network Engineer, you will collaborate across teams to plan the expansion of Roblox's Data Center network to support rapid user growth. In this role, you will be responsible for both the engineering and operations of Roblox's Data Center Network. You will ensure the design and implementation decisions to support scalable and future-proof solutions including High Performance Compute (HPC) fabric and AI/ML network architectures. With our unique services and hosting platform complexities, this role provides an opportunity for an experienced network engineer to tackle new challenges while leveraging their existing expertise.
You Will:
Be a part of the Data Center Network Engineering (DNE) team.
Drive future design, deployment, and operations for Roblox's large-scale Data Center Network.
Participate in the design, qualification, and validation of new technologies and hardware to deliver scalable solutions.
Participate in weekly calls to coordinate efforts across multiple teams, driving Data Center builds/projects and ensuring seamless operations.
Work closely with other infrastructure teams to proactively identify and address network-related challenges.
Collaborate with Network Reliability Systems (NRS) to drive toward 100% automation, set up dashboards, and define/refine alerts to enhance telemetry and alerting coverage.
Participate in on-call rotation to support the global network infrastructure 24x7.
Guide and mentor junior engineers. You Have:
Over 6 years of experience in designing, deploying, and operating large-scale networks.
Expertise in large-scale Data Center Fabrics utilizing CLOS architecture.
Proficient in deploying and managing 100G and 400G hardware.
Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting large-scale BGP deployments.
Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS), with hands-on experience in IPv4 and IPv6.
Experienced working in multi-vendor environments with hands-on exposure to networking hardware.
Familiarity with at least one programming language (Python, Go, C/C++).
Experience in Linux with an understanding of the networking stack.
Proven success in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
B.S. or equivalent experience. Nice to have:
Familiarity with Quality-of-Service (QoS).
Familiarity in IS-IS, MPLS, and RSVP-TE.
Experience with DWDM and commercial NAT solutions.
Experience with open-source hardware and software solutions. Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
