Senior Quality Engineer

Job purpose
Responsible to support the quality requirements for military, aerospace, energy and industrial applications. The Senior Quality Engineer role is one of expertise and leadership, supporting the engineering team by developing the quality requirements for new production launches and post launch production activities. Ensures that customer requirements and compliance are met by understanding contract requirements, developing manufacturing program requirements, quality verification processes, and supply chain requirements. Supports the AS9100 Quality Management System, leads and supports RCCA process and help drive continuous improvement through data analysis of production processes. Some travel required to support projects and supplier development activities.
Duties and responsibilities
Perform contract review for new or revised products.
Assist in ensuring the organization’s Quality Management System conforms to customer, internal, AS 9100, and regulatory/legal requirements.
Generate product inspection documentation to ensure compliance to customer requirements.
Mentor and provide guidance to the QA Technicians.
Prepare First Article Inspection Reports per AS 9102 in a variety of customer systems and portals.
Prepare PPAP packages per AS9145 when required.
Define supplier quality requirements and assist in resolving supplier quality issues as necessary.
Support Quality Technicians that perform receiving and inspection activities.
Participate in the improvement of the QMS.
Participate on the Internal QMS Audit Team.
Perform / Assist with RCCA process on quality problems resulting from Internal Audits, customer returns or production issues.
Perform product over-inspection as a Designated Quality Representative of certain customers.
Assist with the training of personnel to ensure a complete understanding of the quality tools and processes.
Drive continuous improvement within the organization.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
BS degree in Engineering or other related discipline.
10 years of experience in a Quality Engineering position in a high expectations manufacturing environment. A strong mechanical aptitude is necessary.
Work within AS 9100, ISO 9000, AS13100, and/or TS 16949 Quality Management System Standards.
Strong leadership skills with career development aspirations. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Experience with quality inspection equipment that includes CMM and SmartScope, electronically tethered micrometers for data collection, etc. CMM programming knowledge in Calypso is a plus.
Ability to read and understand product drawings & GD&T.
Proficiency with computers and software programs including high functioning ERP Systems (SyteLine, SAP, etc.). We use the Microsoft Office suite for daily functions.
Experience with usage of inspection techniques and knowledge of statistical sampling plans.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, and interact well with all levels of personnel, possessing excellent decision-making and organizational skills.
Be able to manage multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously and have a strong sense of urgency while maintaining an unwavering moral compass.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma and Statistical Process Control techniques.
Proven analytical / evaluative and problem solving skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Accomplished presentation skills, with ability to effectively present ideas to personnel at all levels within the organization.
Working conditions
Manufacturing environment.
Some day or overnight travel both domestically and abroad.
Could work in areas with excessive noise or other manufacturing related hazards. NOTE: Proper PPE will be provided
