Position Overview:As a Sr. Sales Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in driving customer success, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing innovative solutions to meet diverse client needs.
This is a fully remote position in MST/PST timezones.
Base Pay Range
The base pay range of this position is $100,000 to $150,000 USD annually. Additional commission compensation is available for this position.
Please note that the provided range reflects the pay spectrum for positions within the same job category as the one to which this position belongs. The final offer will consider various factors, such as location, education, and prior experience, to ensure a comprehensive and fair compensation assessment.

Expected Posting Timelines
This position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, a maximum of 90 days.
The Day-to-Day
The essential functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Provide pre-sales technical assistance to the Sales Team in generating net new business by assessing and determining customer storage/server requirements and then designing appropriate solutions.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations and product demos that generate rapport with customers and prospects by addressing technical questions.
- Gain customer acceptance by explaining or demonstrating cost reductions and operations improvements to be had with iXsystems products.
- Maintain customer records with technical notes in SalesForce.
- Help with the successful deployment of new storage and server systems both remotely and occasionally on-site.
- Provide post-sales technical account management support by helping uncover new opportunities in existing accounts.
- Assist the Support Team in solving problems with customer-installed equipment.
- Act as a customer liaison to the Product Management and Engineering teams by gathering and reporting on customer feedback and feature demands.
- Help in researching, benchmarking, and testing existing products and various adjacent applications.
- Stay abreast of storage and server market and competitor trends.
- Provide product training to internal Sales Team, Channel Partners, and end customers.
Education and Experience

- 5 years experience as a Sales Engineer or 3+ years experience with enterprise storage (either in the Storage industry or as an end user)
- Experience with OpenZFS, FreeBSD, Open Source software, or FreeNAS/TrueNAS is a plus
- VMware or storage certifications are a plus
- Ability to consume and deliver technical material on OpenZFS and the TrueNAS/FreeNAS storage products along with adjacent datacenter technologies
- Excellent technical understanding of SAN/NAS technology and storage/network performance
- Familiarity with backup, cloud, file system architecture, and virtualization technology
- Excellent understanding of VM technology, including VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, XenServer, and/or KVM hypervisors
- Ability to present and communicate the above to both technical and non-technical audiences, as well as explain cost, TCO, and ROI models at a basic level to Executives and Finance Departments
- Extensive knowledge of, or interest in, Open Source software
- Keen understanding of the B2B IT sales processes and cycle
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Familiarity with CRM systems
- Willingness to travel for work (up to 25%)
