Your Role As a Senior Engineer on our Ledger Team, you'll design, implement, and maintain the foundational systems that underpin Alpaca's operations and empower millions of users trading billions in assets. Your responsibilities will include creating a modern ledger system that provides a comprehensive and accurate account history, essential for financial reporting and compliance, while serving as a crucial source of truth within the Alpaca ecosystem. Key Responsibilities Collaborate across departments, including finance and operations, to deliver impactful projects. Build backend systems with a focus on integrity, maintainability, scalability, and stability. Lead high-visibility projects from ideation to deployment. Partner with engineering teams to enhance the robustness of Alpaca's systems. Qualifications (Must-Haves) 5+ years of experience in large-scale systems engineering. A commitment to producing performant, defect-free code. A proactive problem solver with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong programming skills, ideally in Go. Ability to troubleshoot and prevent issues proactively. Familiarity with IDLs (e.g., protobuf), RPC frameworks (e.g., gRPC), cloud platforms (e.g., GCP), and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL). Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves) Experience in the financial services or accounting sectors. Familiarity with distributed systems and databases.
