As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll lead the design, deployment, and integration of enterprise-level systems while serving as the go-to NiFi expert in a high-availability, mission-critical environment. This hands-on role goes beyond traditional engineering—it requires sharp troubleshooting skills, the ability to respond to after-hours incidents, and a deep understanding of NiFi, RKE2 Kubernetes, and Ceph. Your solutions will directly impact real-time dataflows supporting the nation’s most sensitive missions.

• Leading systems engineering initiatives from requirements gathering to deployment and sustainment

• Designing, configuring, and maintaining Apache NiFi dataflows, including processors, templates, and controller services

• Supporting 24/7 on-call rotation to resolve critical system and dataflow incidents as they arise

• Installing, troubleshooting, and supporting RKE2 (Rancher Kubernetes) clusters, pods, and associated applications

• Managing and resolving Ceph storage issues in support of highly available containerized systems

• Developing Systems Engineering Plans, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and RMF documentation

• Coordinating system integration activities, configuration management, and verification planning

• Collaborating with software, DevOps, and cyber teams to ensure smooth workflow integration and enterprise system readiness

• Participating in design reviews, IPTs, and Configuration Control Boards (CCBs)

• Supporting the testing, accreditation, and lifecycle sustainment of classified systems

• Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph

• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen

• Experience & Education:

  • 20+ years of relevant Systems Engineering experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (additional 5 years of SE experience may substitute for a degree)

• Extensive hands-on experience with Apache NiFi: installation, troubleshooting, dataflow creation, and solution implementation

• Proven ability to respond to after-hours support calls and remediate time-sensitive NiFi issues

• Strong background in enterprise systems engineering, requirements decomposition, and interface definition

• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments, configuration management, and architecture modeling (e.g., DoDAF)

• Experience supporting RMF compliance and maintaining system security and accreditation

• Proficient in version control systems (e.g., Git), ticketing tools (e.g., JIRA, Redmine), and stakeholder communication

• Experience with RKE2 (Rancher Kubernetes): installation, upgrades, troubleshooting pods/applications

• Hands-on expertise managing Ceph storage configurations and resolving related integration issues

• Familiarity with NiFi Registry, provenance, and multi-tenant NiFi architecture

• Understanding of DevOps principles, Infrastructure-as-Code, and CI/CD workflows (e.g., Ansible, Docker, GitLab CI)

• Exposure to certification & accreditation processes for classified systems

• Experience with:

  • Configuration management and CCB processes

  • Lifecycle cost and risk assessments

  • DoDAF modeling and simulation tools

  • Supporting operational users and integrating real-world data sources

This role requires a unique blend of systems engineering depth, operational flexibility, and deep technical knowledge of Apache NiFi and containerized environments. Compensation Range: $182,000.00 - $240,000.00
