Software Engineer For Antenna Systems

Project Kuiper is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

As a software engineer for antenna systems, you will collaborate with systems architects, hardware engineering design teams, and FW/SW design teams to bring up and test systems combining FPGA, firmware, RF, and networking functions and build advanced tools for the following:

  • Characterizing subsystems and systems related to antennas
  • Complex data storage
  • Hardware test automation
  • Firmware design and implementation
  • Application development
  • Design automation for 2D and 3D structures
  • Develop bring up tools and scripts for phased array systems

Key job responsibilities:

  • Gathering requirements, designing, implementing, integrating, testing, and launching high-quality, large-scale distributed software systems that solve significant customer problems
  • Developing the best customer experience, keeping latency, security, and usability in mind
  • Working across a broad range of AWS technologies to build advanced tools, distributed systems software, and automation workflows
  • Developing solutions that scale across a broad range
  • Collaborating with a diverse range of cross-functional roles - systems architects, hardware engineering design teams, and FW/SW design teams
  • Promoting a culture of engineering excellence by establishing best practices and technical standards across the organization
  • Leading and mentoring other talented engineers

Basic qualifications:

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
