Software Process Lead Engineer
Cimarron is hiring a Software Process Lead Engineer to support the Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) program in El Segundo, CA. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge satellite technology in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
Key Duties:
- Lead software process implementation and governance across all phases of the software development lifecycle for a large-scale satellite development program.
- Incorporate enterprise software design practices and process assets into engineering artifacts and documentation, including development plans, specifications, test plans, and review materials.
- Guide the development, approval, and adoption of standardized artifacts for use by software teams and for delivery to customers.
- Support process compliance efforts, including audits, peer reviews, Technical Design Reviews, gate reviews, and customer reviews.
- Advise software engineering management and program leadership on software process strategies to ensure engineering excellence and program success.
- Design and implement tooling and processes to generate and collect software metrics in alignment with the measurement and metrics plan.
- Lead planning, generation, analysis, and reporting of software metrics across engineering teams.
- Deliver software process training to educate teams on new and emerging practices.
- Review engineering products and processes for compliance with project plans and applicable standards.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
- Active Secret Clearance (or higher).
- 5 or more years of experience with systems engineering or software development on space-based or ground-based systems.
- 5 or more years of experience leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
- 5 or more years of experience leading projects and/or individuals in software development lifecycle tasks.
- 5 or more years of experience with modern software development methodologies.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Engineering Technology), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, or Computer Science.
- Proficiency with Boeing Enterprise Software Design Practices (DPs) for mission-critical systems.
- Experience in the satellite software domain.
- Proficiency with the GitLab ecosystem.
- Experience with Agile software development and principles of DevSecOps and Continuous Integration (CI).
- Proven ability to work with diverse software product owners and systems engineering teams to implement software processes in complex systems.
- Experience working on U.S. Government contracts.
- Experience implementing and/or auditing software standards such as CMMI, AS9100, and MIL-STD.
- Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Familiarity with Technical Operating Report (TOR) standards.
