Job Description

Software Quality Engineer II
Location: State College, PA
Employment Type: Full-time

We're seeking a Quality Engineer who will play a hands-on role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, usability, and performance. You'll work closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders from concept to release—planning, executing, and improving testing strategies that keep our products production-ready and our users delighted. This role will support our Connect and Real Time SPC products.

What You'll Do
  • Plan, schedule, and execute test strategies for new features and components, combining exploratory and automated approaches to optimize coverage and prevent regressions.

  • Partner with developers and stakeholders to clarify requirements, advocate for testability, and identify risks early in the development cycle.

  • Conduct pair testing and review pull requests to uncover risk areas and ensure early defect detection.

  • Address functional and non-functional requirements, including performance, security, accessibility, and maintainability.

  • Maintain and extend automated test suites in shared frameworks, ensuring tests remain meaningful and efficient as the codebase evolves.

  • Write clear, actionable bug reports, verify fixes, and ensure issues are completely resolved.

  • Monitor product health, track quality indicators, and recommend improvements to development and testing practices.

  • Contribute to cross-functional planning, technical decision-making, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Mentor others in testing approaches, share best practices, and maintain documentation, visuals, and onboarding materials.

What You Bring
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in commercial software testing or development.

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Strong data literacy—able to interpret numerical data, graphs, and charts to inform decisions.

  • Proficiency in API testing (RESTful APIs, Postman, or similar tools).

  • Ability to validate API responses, performance, and security fixes.

  • Strong SQL skills for querying and verifying databases; familiarity with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.

  • Basic understanding of Azure infrastructure and cloud-based monitoring tools like Azure Application Insights.

Bonus Skills
  • Programming experience in PHP, JavaScript, or Python.

  • Experience with automation frameworks like Cypress, Postman, or Playwright.

If you're passionate about building confidence in release quality, improving coverage where it matters most, and fostering a culture of shared responsibility for product excellence—we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and help us ensure every release is our best one yet.
