Sr. Electrical Design Engineer Long-term contract in Birmingham, AL. Very competitive pay, time and a half for OT, Mob/Demob, and strong per diem. Join this fast-growing design engineering firm, who will be adding 150 people in the next 18 months. The work is designing simple-cycle gas turbine plants, to support the energy demand from data centers. Requirements: B.S. or M.S in electrical engineering from an accredited university. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or actively working toward licensure. Minimum of 7 years of relevant industrial experience in electrical, preferably in EPC environments. Knowledgeable in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, ElecDes, ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, A6132, and Dialux) Proficiency in PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and field instrumentation. Strong understanding of NEC, IEEE, and other relevant codes and standards. Ability to produce efficient, constructible designs with attention to cost and schedule. Experience with EPC project workflows and documentation standards. Proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Access & Outlook) Responsibilities: • Develop detailed design deliverables including: Single-line diagrams Motor elementary diagrams Interconnect diagrams Electrical cable schedules Equipment specification Material take-offs (MTOs) Grounding, lighting, lightning protection, and heat trace systems • Perform engineering calculations to validate design integrity. • Design and implement instrumentation systems for process control and monitoring. • Conduct arc flash studies, grounding grid analysis, and relay coordination. • Prepare construction packages and support field implementation. • Ensure designs meet client expectations, industry standards, and project specifications. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project alignment. • Provide on-site startup and commissioning support as needed. xywuqvp • Recognize and communicate scope changes and design updates promptly.
