As a Senior Heat Exchanger Engineer, you will work as part of our chiller engineering team and will be responsible for concept development, design and design verification of shell and tube heat exchangers for application to centrifugal and air-cooled chillers (where applicable). Your ability to be creative or innovative and use design tools to develop and implement new heat transfer components will be crucial to enable efficiency increases and greenhouse gas emission reductions for our products. Additionally, you will help mentor other engineers in heat exchanger design and development to enhance our product offerings.
A Day in the Life:
Design shell and tube heat exchangers, heat exchanger components and related system components in support of large commercial heating and cooling products.
Be a key contributor to technology, productivity, and new product development projects focused on the design of new products or components that improve the function, reliability or cost of existing products and components.
Help develop and improve tools and processes used for the design and integration of shell and tube heat exchange components within our Commercial HVAC product lines.
Perform and document engineering analysis required to design, verify performance, and reliability of HVAC components and products.
Create or maintain standard work related to the design of shell and tubes heat exchangers.
Plan and help direct laboratory tests to support product design and verification.
Collaborate with suppliers to obtain designs that meet product requirements.
Manage technical requirements for heat exchangers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and ASME codes.
Support and potentially lead ad hoc teams of engineers and others through short duration projects.
Mentor other thermal systems and product systems engineers in the design of shell and tube heat exchangers.
Work effectively across functional lines (sustaining engineering, production, design, marketing, suppliers).

What you will Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least 5 years of work experience in the development and design of shell and tube heat exchangers is required.
Ideal industry experience within HVAC, Power Generation, Petrochemical or Food & Beverage.
Professional Engineer or master’s degree in engineering is a plus.
Fundamental knowledge of shell and tube heat exchanger design considering parameters such as heat transfer, fluid flow, pressure drop, material selection and regulatory standards.
Knowledge of single and two-phase fluid flow as it relates to design of shell and tube heat exchangers and ability to develop physical based models of their performance.
Knowledge of design, performance prediction and cost analysis process for shell and tube heat exchangers.
Understanding and experience with the application of computer simulation tools either through direct use or interpretation/use of results.
Experience with steam and hot water applications is desirable but not required.
ASME Pressure Vessel Code experience preferred, but not required.
Engineering design knowledge to support quality and customer service.
Ability to understand, condense and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions quickly and efficiently.
Resiliency, with the dual ability to work as a collaborator or a team leader.
Ability to effectively communicate with others both written and orally.
Self-starting with a high energy level and a high commitment to career.
