Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to lead the design and development of Control Plane for F5’s cloud native BIGIP products. Y ou would be responsible for crafting and maintaining control-plane architecture that is resilient, scale and performance tested and free from security vulnerability. This Control Plane provides a global, scalable, and secure way to deploy applications to multiple tenants at the same time. The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional technical leadership, mentoring abilities, and a vision for innovation that aligns with the company's long-term goals.
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve as the technical lead for BIGIP Kubernetes control plane, guiding design and architecture decisions that align with organizational objectives
Independently determine and develop approaches to solutions for assigned projects by identifying, resolving and mitigating risk and communicating to others
Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Liaise with cross-functional teams, including Product Management and Customer Support, to ensure seamless delivery of product features and enhancements.
Drive research efforts to explore new technologies and methodologies, translating findings into actionable design improvements and product enhancements.
Act as a mentor for junior members of the team
Actively communicate technical concepts through discussions, white papers, and presentations
Perform other related duties as assigned, which may include on-call responsibilities or travel as necessary (approximately 5%)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency in Kubernetes, CRDs, Helm, gRPC etc. is required
Must be expert at GO, C/C++ programming language
Must have strong background in networking technologies & protocols like IP, TCP, UDP, DNS, HTTP etc
Experience developing applications in docker/container-based cloud environment
Working knowledge of application deployment/orchestration using Kubernetes is desired
Experience writing automated unit/functional tests
Experience with gitlab/github or other source code management is needed
Outstanding problem solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
Experience with AWS and other cloud technologies is a plus
Able toown various complex problems, collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment
Regularly demonstrates collaboration by promoting others’ ideas, working well within and other teams, influencing others, and making teams successful
Demonstrated leadership role within project team
Must be passionate and enjoy solving complex problems. This is a fast paced, innovative environment and requires candidate to grasp new technologies quickly
Demonstrated excellence in written, interpersonal, and verbal communications. Regularly finds ways to communicate widely through discussions, white papers, publications and other. Willingness and ability to write good functional specification and design document
Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 8 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
