As part of tech modernization and cloud migration, digital applications are undergoing migration to Azure cloud environment. The applications are needed to be performance tested with the required tunable to be resilient enough.
• What are the top - responsibilities for this position? (Please be detailed as to what the candidate is expected to do or complete on a daily basis)
o Performance Testing
o Design and execute performance tests to evaluate the system's responsiveness, stability, scalability, and resource usage.
o Identify performance bottlenecks and provide recommendations for improvements.
o Analyze test results and generate detailed performance reports.
o Resiliency Testing
o Conduct resiliency tests to ensure the system can handle failures and recover gracefully.
o Implement and test failure scenarios to validate the system's fault tolerance.
o Recommend and validate resiliency patterns such as circuit breakers, bulkheads, and retries.
o Performance Monitoring
o Set up and maintain performance monitoring tools to continuously track system performance.
o Analyze performance metrics and logs to detect and diagnose performance issues in real-time.
o Capacity Planning
o Perform capacity planning to ensure the system can handle expected and peak loads.
o Provide recommendations for scaling resources based on performance data and future growth projections.
o Performance Optimization
o Collaborate with development and operations teams to optimize code, database queries, and infrastructure configurations.
o Recommend best practices for performance tuning and optimization.
o Kubernetes Performance Parameters
o Recommend and configure performance parameters for Kubernetes clusters, such as resource limits, requests, and autoscaling policies.
o Ensure optimal performance of containerized applications running in Kubernetes environments.
o Resiliency Patterns
o Recommend and implement resiliency patterns like circuit breakers, rate limiters, and fallback mechanisms to enhance system reliability.
o Validate the effectiveness of these patterns through testing and monitoring.
o Documentation and Training
o Document performance testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.
o Provide training and support to development and operations teams on performance and resiliency best practices.
o Continuous Improvement
o Continuously evaluate and improve performance testing and monitoring processes.
o Stay updated with the latest performance engineering tools, techniques, and industry trends.
• What skills/technologies are required (please include the number of years of experience required)?
o Experience with containerization technologies like Docker.
o String scripting skills in languages such as Bash, Python.
o Effective problem-solving and analytical skills
o Must be familiar with observability and APM tools like Splunk, ELK, AppDynamics etc
o Good understanding of Architecture patterns and resiliency.
o Programing experience in Java and Spring boot
o Strong microservices application support experience.
o Proficient understanding of algorithms, data structures, architectural design patterns and best practices.
o Experience with Cloud is required
• What skills/attributes are preferred (these are a desired, not required)?
o Experience working applications using Kubernetes platform is preferred
o Understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and VPNs.

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining technical software applications and provides a combination of technical and business leadership while being the primary trusted and capable owner of one or more high priority, high visibility, complex initiatives. The DevOps Engineer will typically lead and coach a small number of team members (, an architect, systems analyst, etc.) and provide guidance to a larger community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Designs and writes complex code in several languages relevant to our existing product stack, with a focus on automation
? Configures, tunes, maintains and installs applications systems and validates system functionality
? Monitors and fine tunes applications system to achieve optimum performance levels and works with hardware teams to resolve issues with hardware and software
? Lead, manage and grow a team of customer focused, highly dynamic and multi-disciplinary team of full stack software engineers
? Assists with application system problem resolution by working with application developers, vendors, and internal infrastructure teams member to troubleshoot
? Design and implement appropriate environments for DevOps tools set, and provide production support
? Influences other teams and broader Engineering groups in adopting Cloud technologies, processes, and best practices
? Automates the provisioning of environments for DevOps Tool chain
? Develops and enables continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) for DevOps Tool set
? Acts to improve the overall reliability of systems and to increase efficiency
? Works collaboratively with cross functional teams, using Agile / DevOps principles to bring products to life, achieve business objectives and serve customer needs
? Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, and self-organization
