Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - Security and Data Systems
This engineer will be based in or near our Bellevue, WA office.
This role requires a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance and a favorable suitability review. It is a condition of employment to obtain and maintain this clearance for access to classified information. Failure to uphold these standards may result in termination.
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. As a SaaS company specializing in securing large-scale systems, this role combines software engineering and systems administration. You will be responsible for building and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure, automating manual processes, and proactively resolving complex issues, including handling incidents and participating in on-call shifts.
Responsibilities
Platform & Reliability: Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure supporting our security SaaS offerings, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability. This includes developing tooling for our Snowflake data systems.
Automation: Develop automation to eliminate manual toil and ensure consistency across environments, covering infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, and incident response.
Security & Compliance: Collaborate with security teams to embed security-first practices into all processes and infrastructure. Ensure systems and data platforms meet industry standards.
Incident Response: Participate in on-call rotations, respond to critical incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures.
Collaboration: Work with development, data science, and security teams to guide architectural decisions, best practices, and new service implementations.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Strong Coding Skills: Proficient in writing production-level code to solve operational challenges.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Extensive experience with Terraform for cloud provisioning and management.
Continuous Delivery: Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools like Spinnaker .
Containerization & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with container technologies and managing large-scale Kubernetes clusters.
Database Migrations: Experience with tools like Flyway for database schema management.
Data Systems: Experience with large-scale data platforms, especially Snowflake .
AI/ML Experience (a plus): Interest or experience in applying AI/ML technologies to improve reliability and security (e.g., AIOps, predictive analysis).
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and proactive approach to issue resolution.
This role requires onboarding and travel to our San Francisco, CA HQ or Chicago Office during the first week.

Below is the annual On Target Earnings (OTE) range for candidates in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington. Actual OTE depends on skills, experience, and location. The OTE range for this position in these states is: $168,000 — $227,000 USD What you can look forward to as a full-time Okta employee!
