POSITION PURPOSE:
Lead the implementation and sustainability of a comprehensive Supplier Management System encompassing both domestic and international suppliers. This includes providing strategic leadership in addressing supplier-related issues, driving continuous improvement in supplier performance, and playing a pivotal role in supporting new product development and production approval. Additionally, to support the Quality and Manufacturing Group by developing and promoting best practices, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality specifications, procedures, and training tools that optimize product quality and manufacturing efficiency, thereby delivering enhanced value to our customers.

Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of quality engineering or manufacturing experience, with at least 3 years focused specifically on supplier quality, supplier development, or supplier audit roles (domestic and international)
- Demonstrated experience partnering with global suppliers, supplier qualification and onboarding
- Must have experience in statistical process control techniques, continuous improvement practices, and process analysis
- Experience with conducting capability studies, Gauge R&R, and print reading a plus
- Experience with Six Sigma and lean methodologies a plus
- Track record of successful project management and completion
- Experience with developing and managing scorecards that supports quality and manufacturing efficiency
Skills
- Must be skilled in statistical process control techniques, continuous improvement practices and process analysis
- Excellent personal computer skills in a network environment; Microsoft products experience required
- Able to use customer feedback to drive permanent corrective actions through team environment or as an individual contributor
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning, time management, and prioritization skills
- Possess strong organizational skills and be detail oriented.
- Must operate efficiently and effective within a team environment with the ability to flex and adapt as needed
- Basic AIAG (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC) or quality related system knowledge.
- Have working knowledge of lean principles such as 5S, Standard Work, Waste Reduction, and Value Stream mapping.
Education
- Undergraduate degree in Quality, Engineering, International Relations, Business or related discipline
- ASQ certification (CQA, CQE, CSSBB) a plus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Visit suppliers and perform system audits to aid in supplier development.
- Drive Kaizen projects to help improve supplier processes and reduce waste.
- Initiate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) based upon supplier data such as scrap or audits. Review and close SCARs based on validated evidence.
- Work with Purchasing on supplier selection and evaluation to ensure supply base meets fundamental Quality Management System requirements.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Purchasing to ensure adequate quality specifications are provided to suppliers and suppliers are equipped to meet quality expectations.
- Initiate, track and approve supplier PPAP submissions and organize follow-up activities to resolve issues.
- Train suppliers and internal personnel over PPAP process.
- Align supplier specifications with internal specifications.
- Acting as a liaison between vendors and company leaders, determining solutions to any challenges to quality standards
- Evaluate product quality problems from suppliers from receipt through installation in support of improving supplier quality.
- Lead teams when necessary to perform root cause analysis and ensure suppliers perform required corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide inspection support for incoming material, as required.
- Work with engineering on product quality concerns and or new product development.
- Review supplier Control Plans, PFMEA's, inspection and work instructions and other assigned quality plan documentation.
- Serve as a liaison between manufacturing facilities and suppliers.
- Assist in developing and maintaining supplier scorecard.
- Role model CITE and Working in Teams principles
- Perform other tasks as directed by direct supervisor.
SCOPE & EXPECTATIONS:
Communications Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret product specifications. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with suppliers and customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers/clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and public. Ability to develop presentations to be delivered to production team, plant level team, or public groups.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication or division to basic manufacturing performance recording or financial performance recording. Ability to read and use various measurement equipment such as calipers, tape measure, depth gauges, etc.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Supervision Responsibilities:
This position has no direct employees reporting to it.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds. This specific job requires visual capability to critically evaluate color and cosmetics of our products.
Working Environment:
Typical indoor manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually moderate to high and hearing protection may be required on the production floor. Safety glasses are required on the production floor. Moderate out-of-town travel is required (20-50%). Occasional weekend work required.
